The reason Russian ballet is still the best in the world is that they accept discipline and don’t spend hours analysing their body image and diet . If you can’t stand the heat etc etc …… We are so precious in the West today .

Underwhelming, felt like I was watching the rehearsal. No set changes, no costumes. Couldn’t workout who was Odette, the Prince or the Sorcerer until the second half. Lacked passion. No climax. Usually you catch glimmers of the dancers really embodying the swans, but there was very little to mostly none of this, the leotards worn were unflattering and contributed to the lack lustre feel. I love the Scottish Ballet, huge fan, but I found this show flat, boring and disappointing. A pretentious joy killer. Thankfully the orchestra were superfluous. Looks to me that they thought the music and dance is all that we need for this classic, as there was zero show or performance.

This is amazing! And it should be garnering way, way more attention. Updating the story of Coppélia through the modern day lens of tech tycoons, and even incorporating the camera work into the choreography is genius. It’s already been a year and I only just came across this. Scottish Ballet are on it! They are doing stuff that actually helps modern day audiences, who may not be as engaged with the themes of traditional repertoires, to actually connect with ballet in new and exciting ways. Royal in London and Birmingham aren’t remotely close to incorporating innovative ideas like this. 👏👏👏

I missed this one at Glasgow. I wish I could have seen it.

it is like the hans christen andersen snow queen but with the snow queen and the summer princess sisters like Elsa and Anna

This is a beautiful short work of choreography, performed with great skill and elegance. Sadly, however, the camera work cuts off much of the movement to the viewer’s eye. The dancer’s body should be seen in its entirety for the full length of the work. This kind of camera work is not appropriate for dance and renders this wonderful work difficult and frustrating to watch.
